Narrative Purpose[]
Mission to Zyxx relies on reoccuring characters to mould season narrative (Old Derf), generate storyline (Gunther Ballwheat), add substance to fan-favorite characters (Janelle Fitzmeyer), and as Chekov's-Gun-type devices to save the main characters from disaster (Sammo and Wink). From The Zyxx Fancast interview with Jeremy Bent, we also learn that new guests sometimes request interaction with previously established characters (such as Finniford J. Ryan, Season 3, Episode 313: Well Hello, Partner), or refer to characters voiced by indivduals they know personally (Season 3, Episode 314: Kitty’s Pancake House [ft. Ellena Doe], the guest refers to Flix Dunker). Some recurring characters first appeared solely in Season 1's advertising content, where they reveal important world-building information alongside product endorsements, only to later become key characters (like Rolphus Tiddle and Seesu Gundu). Most but not all recurring chracters are voiced by the main Zyxx cast.
